RI - Continue Your Effort to Protect Animals with Cruelty Registry

Local animal rights activists and supporters in Rhode Island have some major concerns about the health and well-being of animals in the Ocean State they live in.  The state has some strong laws against animal cruelty and my goal is to encourage them to do more by implementing and strictly enforcing an animal cruelty registry. It is commendable that the State of Rhode Island is doing what it can to protect defenseless animals who cannot speak out in defending themselves.  An animal cruelty registry would be a vital tool in preventing further abuse, cruelty and neglect.  A proposed database of convicted animal abusers would be similar in stature to that of other databases for child abusers and sex offenders with serious, lifetime implications.  Any person convicted of animal abuse, cruelty or abandonment of any sort needs to be listed on this registry.  To be accurate, the abuser’s information needs to be updated on a regular basis.  Furthermore, any person listed on this database should remain there for a lifetime, being banned from any future animal ownership, working with or caring for them as a means of protecting future defenseless lives.

My effort in this petition is to encourage the Rhode Island State Legislators to be diligent in creating and strictly enforcing an animal cruelty registry in an attempt to protect all animals statewide from abuse, cruelty and neglect.  You can help in this effort by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts and comments in favor of the voiceless beings who cannot protect themselves.

Rhode Island State Legislators – It is highly commendable that you have implemented some stringent punishment for the crimes of animal cruelty.  In an ongoing effort, I urge you to create and strictly enforce an animal cruelty registry in an attempt to protect and further avoid animal abuse, cruelty and abuse.  Such a proposed database of convicted animal abusers would be similar in stature to that of other databases for child abusers and sex offenders with serious, lifetime implications.
