Changes that need to occur in the United States mental health system

I have been a patient at different psychiatric facilities and at different outpatient mental health centers. I have learned over the years that many people with mental illnesses when going to these places do not receive any of the necessary care they need. Why should the mentally ill be forced into psychiatric facilities for suicidal thoughts or attempts when they will never receive any kind of treatment. As the years pass I myself receive less and less treatment I need to function in society. I want to see harm to self removed from psychiatric hospitalization when my self and so many others won't even begin to receive necessary care. Why even bother sending someone to a psychiatric hospital when nothing will be done to help these patients. And the fact that other people because of their degrees can determine whether a person lives or dies. Mental health professionals are not or will they ever be God. And they can tell others what they can and can not do to their own bodies. Remove harm to self from hospitalization criteria
