We, the undersigned deplore the decision of Herefordshire Council to withdraw funding from Herefordshire Citizens Advice Bureaux which has already led to the closure of their facilities in Ross-on-Wye, Ledbury, Bromyard and Leominster. Without any further funding the Hereford office will shortly be closed and our county will be one of the few in the country to not have any CAB.
The CAB services are trusted and well respected by the community as providers of free, independent and trusted advice on a wide range of problems that may affect any resident of Herefordshire. The annual grant was just £1 per person per year and the CAB provided advice to 5,100 Herefordshire residents last year.
We demand that Herefordshire Council reverse their decision and provide adequate grant to enabe the CAB to re-open those offices forced to close their doors and to ensure their continued service throughout our county.
