it's been over 5 years since the Mount Sentinal music program has been cut. The parents, students and community members of the Slocan Valley would like this program reinstated as soon as possible. Music is an integral part of a wholistic education. It has been proven time and time again to increase grades, attendance, social and emotional well being as well as self esteem of students. We live in an incredible arts community and our students deserve music education. In a society full of distractions for our youth from social media to drugs and alcohol it is a disservice to them to not provide a full music program to help them find direction and succeed in life. Many graduates of Mount Sentinel have found that their time in the music program was very enriching for their high school lives. Many continue to play music into adulthood, others have continued to college and have created successful music careers! These kids deserve this!!!
