Protect Future Victims by Protecting those from the past. Such as Jessica Lynsford.

Abolish the Statute of Limitations for sexual predators.

Target:
Utah & United States Lawmakers
In the state of Utah there is a law that protects child molesters. When a person is molested as a child and they become an adult and decide to deal with the horrible guilt and shame, they can not prosecute the person who did this to them because our law makers protect them with a statue of limitations. There is a revolution taking place in the united states.

I too, intend to fight against this law..

This week in his parole hearing, my dad admitted to molesting me and my older sister (along with 13 other un-named victims). He was only charged with crimes of ONE VICTIM. This is because the statute of limitations had expired for the other victims that had come forward. The first victim came forward PRIOR to the charged crimes for which he is currently in prison.

I was 19 when I started to have extreme suicidal tendencies. Luckily, I was still under my mom's insurance. I got the best psycholigical care I could find. It came up that my parents were divorced because my dad had attempted molesting me. So I decided to give my dad a jingle and find out if he'd be willing to admit to me what he'd done. He did. He did it in a bragging sort of way and told me how he would "masterbate" us while we were sleeping. He said he also liked to fondle our breasts (especially my older sisters since she was more developed than I). I told him that I needed him to start paying for my therapy, he agreed, but never paid a dime.

Then, I lived my life. Scared to death that he would strike again. He assured me he was better. He assured my grandmother that God had forgiven him so he had to forgive himself.

Then, it came out that he had been molesting my oldest baby sister. She only told me because she didn't want her baby sister (my youngest baby sister) to be molested while alone with him in Guatemala.

He went to prison and did the programs required of him for the charges that were actually filed against him. He will too soon be released.

There are more charges that need to be applied by the other 13 victims. Please help us keep this and other dangerous child predators behind bars!! The only way we can do this is to abolish the statute of limitations for sexual predators. If Child Molestation is 2nd only to murder, then we must treat it as such.

I too was abused by my stepfather. My mother knew it was going on and never left him. She seen him do it with her own eyes. As an adult, I suffer from deep depression to the fact that they are still married today, and he's doing the same thing to my youngest brother. He has done this with other children, and no-one is doing anything about it. It's a shame. I will sign petitions in every single state if it helps.

A statute of limitations does nothing but protect the guilty at the expense of the innocent. I know firsthand the failings of the law when it comes to protecting children. It turns a blind eye when a child needs help the most.

Anyone with children understands the desperate struggle to keep our youngest generations safe. Please don't fail them.

Child molesters should have all their rights taken away just as they have taken away the rights of the chidren they abused.

This particular statue of limitations is simply a way to protect pedophiles from every having to answer for their crimes. Do you really think a small child is capable of taking their own father or uncle, neighbor, etc. to court? Why is the state of Utah victimizing the survivors all over again by protecting criminals?

This definitely needs to happen. Not only to protect current victims of sexual molestation, but also to protect other children from being future victims.

Please provide a way for those who have been victimized in the past to have the opportunity to come forward when they are emotionally capable of dealing with the abuse.

As a victim of child molestation i urge to to consider us victims. We are given a life sentence. There is no time frame that expires so the memories, the nightmares, the cold sweats, the fer. This never goes away and no matter how long it takes us to be able to speak the truth the person responsible for molesting us should be held accountable. Please consider the children and the victims of these monsters when making your decision. You can only see that we are given a life sentence and it is only fair that they should pay the same, no matter when the charges are laid.

Child molesters and pedophiles all say that "they have rights too" and "what about my rights?" or "people are taking away my rights" and I think it is ridiculous! All I have to say to them is, so what about the rights of the child you molested or raped? Weren't you taking away their right to not be abused? If they don't like the way things are then maybe they should have kept it in their pants!

As a survivor of such things, I know that this must stop and stop now. The abusers cannot be let loose to inflict their disease upon the innocent.
