Citizens Against Pit Bull Genocide

In Mashpee, MA. a new kind of witch hunt has begun, not for humans, but for pit bull and pit bull mix puppies. Under the guise of a new bylaw claiming to protect children the owner (or keepers) of any "pit bull type dog" who has a litter must bring them to the town kennel for destruction. The bylaw claims certain breeds have a strong instinct for dominance and a prey drive that results in "aggressive pursuit of . . . human children."

Please help to show that the lawmakers of Mashpee, MA are grossly misinformed.  By taking a moment to sign this petition, we can band together to help preserve our right to free choice.  This proposed bylaw is just another stepping stone for the lawmakers against the Pit Bull breed.  It won't be long before these laws and bans show up across the state of Massachusetts and eventually, the country.

Please promote responsible ownership, not breed bans!
We, the undersigned, strongly oppose the Mashpee, Massachusetts bylaw which states the following:
%u201CIn the event [a pit bull type dog has] a litter, the owner or keeper (i) must deliver the puppies to the Town Kennel for destruction. . . . Any pit bull puppies kept contrary to the provisions of this subsection are subject to immediate impoundment and disposal. . . .%u201D.
We further oppose canine profiling as this is not an effective method of managing dangerous dogs or reducing the number of dog bite related incidents. We ask that lesgislative measures be made to do the following:
a) Encourage residents to spay/neuter their pets.
b) Protect innocent dogs and responsible owners.
c) Prevent reckless owners from having dogs.
d) Enforce stricter consequences for dog fighting.
e) Effectively identify and manage truly dangerous dogs.
f) Encourage dog owners to properly train their pets through community based programs.
