Make Animal Cruelty Illegal in CA
Laws written to protect animals from cruelty and abuse vary from state to state. Some states, like that of California, lack adequate provisions that would help to keep our four-legged companions (as well as some wildlife species) safe from those in society who prey on them in times of vulnerability.
It is not okay to abuse animals. The only way to get this message across to some is to pass laws that would make such acts punishable by a court of law.The law must cover pets, homeless and feral animals, lost animals, as well as wildlife. It should also make it illegal for animals to be abandoned, left inside vehicles for longer than five to ten minutes, to be placed in the uncovered bed of a pick up truck while it is moving, as well as it should also be illegal to hit animals and not report the incident.Animals suffer so much at the hands of cruel people. We should not allow such people to treat animals with such vehemence, as it has been proven that those who hurt animals are extremely likely to hurt people, as well.
We the undersigned seek to establish state laws capable of imprisoning those found guilty of animal abuse and/or cruelty in the state of CA.We seek better protection for any and all types of animals, be they domestic or wild, fur-bearing or otherwise.Societal norms are etched from the laws which serve to protect the majority population. It has been proven scientifically that those individuals with malicious tendencies towards animals are far more likely to grow up and become a threat to others in society. Often times, animal cruelty is indicative of sociopaths and psychopaths. We feel it is for the sake of not only the creatures that need to be spoken for but ourselves as well to do society as a whole a favor and put these types of criminals where they belong. Please enact better laws which would serve to protect the animal and wildlife populations in the state of CA.
