Reverse the weekend parking fees at UCSD

UCSD Parking Office has recently decided to start charging for weekend and night parking on campus, whereas it has historically been free.

Free access increases the ability of students/staff to complete their experiments on nights and weekends, and helps increase productivity of the whole University.  Without this access, students/staff will be forced to either park off campus, with all of the inherent dangers, or take a round-about bus to campus.

This policy would single out those hardworking individuals that want to continue their experiments, and create a disincentive for our own productivity.  The decision to charge fees for parking, when other neighboring institutions such as Salk, Burhnam and TSRI offer completely free parking will put is in a difficult position to recruit and retain the best and brightest at UCSD.

We support keeping the weekend and night parking on campus free to UCSD-affiliated students/staff.
