SAVE THE CHERRY CREEK NEVADA WILD HORSES

Please help to save the Cherry Creek Wild horses who roam free in the vast desert landscape below the tiny historic old gold mining town of Cherry Creek, Nevada . They have been here for at least 8 years that I know of , they live on a mix of public and private lands, they are not destroying the ecosystem, they are not in any danger of being near a roadway , not starving, in fact there is plenty of water and abundant forage in the area. Time is of the essence for this wild horse herd, A massive roundup of approximately 1,800 wild horses including these nine is set to begin on July 2, 2011, in what is called the Triple B-Maverick Medicine HMA combing two counties White Pine County and Elko County in Eastern Nevada . It makes no sense to roundup this little band of wild horses, they are not over populated and this has always been their home. The reason the BLM gives for their roundup is because they are living out side of the herd management area. So in my opinion if they can't leave them alone at least they could move them to another HMA, where there are very few wild horses left to help restore the wild horse herds in certain areas. We need to stop taking them off of our public lands where they have a right to be.
They did a roundup in the Triple B area back in 2006 and rounded up about 2000 head of horses and now they want to go back and get more another 1,800 I doubt that there is anywhere near that number to be rounded up as I have driven through this area extensively many times and have taken photographs of the horses I have seen, if they come any where near that number to be rounded up this time , it will leave area devastated of any wild horses. It is costing the tax payer millions of dollars for these unnecessary roundups. Maybe we can't stop the roundups for all the wild horses but I think we can make a difference for these Cherry Creek wild ones. I believe it would be inhumane for a helicopter to chase these heavily pregnant mares and young foals in the sweltering heat of July! Also in the Triple B there are lots of very young foals and pregnant mares They will be a lot I am afraid that won't even survive the roundup they would be so traumatized . It would be inhumane to even consider rounding up this herd.during the summer months and foaling season. I will personally deliver this petition to the local BLM officials in charge of this roundup here in in Nevada . I believe these wild horses can be transferred to another HMA where there are only public lands and no private land. .I thank you in advance for your kindness in signing the petition to save these horses and to keep the Cherry Creek band free roaming on our public lands. Don't allow them to be separated to live in small holding corrals for the rest of their lives, when all they have ever known is the freedom of the Nevada desert. This herd is very special and they have a special place in my heart, may they be forever free. Thank you in advance for your caring concern. You can make a difference. Every living thing has a spirit inside of them that wants to be free. Kind regards Jeanne Nations
