Urge Gerber Baby Foods to stop using plastic wrapping

Gerber has provided baby food products to busy parents for over fifty years and, although their products have become more organically inclined, their packaging is not environmentally healthy at all.  Each bottle is individually wrapped with plastic wrap and bottles are packaged in boxes with plastic wrap around them.  With millions of customers buying baby food every day, that adds up to a lot of non-recyclable and non-biodegradable plastic ending up in landfills around the world.

With millions of tonnes of plastic sitting in landfills today, and a sea of plastic trash in the ocean, we; parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, teachers, and friends, are urging Gerber to stop packaging baby food bottles in any layers of  plastic.  The bottles are vacuum sealed to ensure freshness and there are alternative materials to keep the bottles from clinking together, thus preventing possible breakage in transport.

Please do not add more unnatural non-biodegradable waste to our planet.  Our children's futures depend on our respect and responsibility for the health of their future environment.  Much of today's plastic is derived from petroleum products and plastic wrapping is one of them.  Petroleum is a dirty product which does not break down into organic components.  If you must have a plastic-like wrapping, please convert to plastic substitutes such as PLA, a corn based plastic, which breaks down in about 12 days.
