It has long been a concern of natural desiccated thyroid users that cannot take the synthetic versions that the FDA will eventually ban the natural desiccated version in favor of the newer, more expensive synthetic alternatives that will yield more profits for the drug companies. It seems that day has finally come. The FDA has halted production on Time Cap labs natural dessicated thyroid medicine and every other major brand has experienced a "shortage" and does not know when or if they will come back in stock. The reason for the time caps shutdown according to the FDA's own written statements to Time Caps lab was because (after 100 years of use!), they claim natural desiccated thyroid is NOT generally recognized as safe or "grandfathered", and therefore according to their Compliance Guide of 2006 is considered an unapproved new drug! According to the Compliance Guide all unapproved new drugs will have to go through the new drug approval process or they will be banned. Meanwhile, natural desiccated thyroid users were given no warning that production was going to be shut down, and many cannot live without this medication and cannot take the alternative. Tell the FDA that natural desiccated thyroid IS GRASE and they should not ban it! If they do so, thousands of people could die. Thank you.

I have been using Armour Thyroid for over 30 years with no ill effects. Because of a move 15 years ago, I was put on synthroid to disastrous effects; balding, loss of memory and depression, etc, but the Dr. refused to prescribe Armour. I found another Dr. who would, and have been thriving since! At my age, taking away my Armour, the medication that works, would certainly lower the quality of my life, and could kill me!

My grandmother, mother and myself all suffer from an autoimmune disease, hashimoto thyroiditis which causes us to have a low thyroid level. We did not respond well to the synthroid and only feel normal and healthy while taking the natural, desicrated thyroid. People have been treated with the natural, desicrated thyroid for at least 100 years and respond well to it. Please help us stay healthy and keep natural desicrated thyroid on the market!

Please don't do this! I have 10 pills left and every pharmacy within a 25 mile radius is now dry. I'm so scared reading everyone's stories. I too have taken synthroid and it was awful and I had about half the hair I have now. Armour has been my angel-it's the most important part of my life. Please help us and approve our lifesaver.

I was on synthroid (synthetic T4) for 5 years before I found out about natural dessicated thyroid (Armour). I was miserable, and depressed about having no relief of my hypothyroid symptoms. After I read about Armour, I was much relieved to have my doctor prescribe it for me. After being on Armour for 1 week, I felt better than I had in years! Now I feel like my life has been ripped out from under me, along with the millions of others on Armour in the U.S. Is it right for the FDA to pull a prescription drug that millions rely on to live a productive life, away from patients without any cause, or warning? My mother cannot take the synthetics, if they ban the natural version she can get sick and die how dare they try and make a buck on some others misfortune and not do there homework that this synthetic will not work with some people. Many of us can NOT take synthetics so we depend on the natural desiccated thyroid meds. My thyroid was removed 2 years ago. I started with Armour which worked wonderful. When I received the new formula my world turned upside down. Although I now take natural meds from RLC Labs the formula doesn't agree with me. I am begging you all to please have a heart and put money aside from this issue. We already have a medical crisis in the U.S. and it's going to get worse. Many of us WILL end up dying, Your playing with fire. There is no guarentee that your thyroid will continue to be healthy. What will you do?

I have thyroid cancer. Soon I will have my thyroid removed completely and I will be permanently dependent on thyroid replacement medication. I am someone who does not do well on Synthroid. The longer I've been on it the more depressed and exhausted I have been. If that is going to be my only option for the rest of my life, I will seriously consider not having my cancerous thyroid removed, because the life I can live on synthetic T4 only is not going to be worth much. Obviously this is not a solution that is remotely rational, but unless I can get on a medication that works, I am going to have a very hard time thinking rationally or remembering anything or not being horribly depressed for the rest of my life. This is a very important decision and the doctors who prescribe natural dessicated thyroid hormone do not do so without knowing what they are doing. It is a controlled prescription medication. That should be enough; there is absolutely no good reason to ban it.

I have been using Armour Thyroid for about eight years now and have never had any problems with it. I and many in my family have sever reactions with synthetic drugs. Please restore Armour Thyroid. In this worsening economy we need medications that work well for us and are affordable, especially medications that do not have ill side effects.

I have terrible side effects on Levothyroxine. Please do not give into the drug companies greed, and do not allow them to monopolize the production of thyroid medication. Let people and their doctors decide which medication works best for them.
