Make Bandera Texas Handicap Accessible

The historic part of Main St. in Bandera Texas is not handicap accessible. Toward the end of the block on Main St., in front of Busbee's BBQ, there is a step in the sidewalk making it difficult, if not impossible, for those with canes, walkers and wheelchairs to access that area of town.  My 11 year old son Lincoln comes to my office all the time and my office just happens to be on this section of Main St.  Lincoln cannot bend his legs and has to wear leg braces that go up to his hips in order to walk.  Needless to say Lincoln cannot go up and down this step, which is about 30 feet from my office door.  There is also no real ramp into the parking area or the street at this end of the block.  For a kid that want's to be independent, this one step keeps Lincoln from simply walking down the sidewalk.

In addition to Lincoln's issues, Bandera's median age is 44 and 25% of the town's population is over 65 years of age.  The solutions to these decades old problems are simple and inexpensive, but we need your help in getting the City of Bandera to make this right.
