Help stop the expansion of tanker traffic in Vancouver!

Take action and help stop the expansion of tanker traffic in Vancouver!

Texas-based Kinder Morgan wants to expand the Trans Mountain pipeline to ship more Tar Sands oil through Vancouver. The proposed expansion would increase tanker traffic fivefold, dramatically increasing the chances of a devastating oil spill. A spill in Vancouver Harbour, Burrard Inlet, or the Fraser River would devastate iconic Stanley Park and local species and breeding habitat, have a disastrous impact on our tourism industry, and threaten port jobs.

Vancouverites do not want to see our city become a huge oil port. The expansion of the pipeline and tanker traffic is at odds with our identity, our values, the economy we have and the greener future we are building. The risk of an oil spill threatens the livelihood of our city and the splendor of our  surroundings. Let’s keep Vancouver green!

I want to express my strong opposition to Kinder Morgan’s proposal to expand the TransMountain pipeline.

The expansion of the pipeline and the associated tanker traffic puts Vancouver at risk of an oil spill, threatening our economy and our environment. An oil spill would be an ecological tragedy, with the potential for devastating impacts on iconic Stanley Park and on local species and breeding habitat. It would have a disastrous impact on recreational areas such as the seawall that drive our tourism industry, and would have a grave impact on jobs at our local port.

Vancouverites do not want to see our city become a huge oil port. The expansion of the pipeline and tanker traffic is at odds with our identity, our values, the economy we have and the greener future we are building. The risk of an oil spill threatens the livelihood of our city and the splendor of our surroundings. For these reasons, we strongly urge that you reject Kinder Morgan’s application to expand the Trans Mountain pipeline.
