Because of school overcrowding along the Old Bridge Road corridor, the Prince William County School System is building a new elementary school which is due to open at the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year. Boundary adjustments are needed to prepare for the opening of the new school, Prince William Parkway Elementary School, and of classroom additions at Antietam, Lake Ridge, Springwoods, Minnieville and Leesylvania Elementary Schools. The proposed boundary change has the children that live in Somerset, the townhomes on Quarterhorse and the Windsor Park Apartments attend Springwoods Elementary. These kids currently attend Westridge Elementary School and are a part of the Westridge Community. We, the signers of this petition believe that these children should continue to attend Westridge. It is important to keep the Westridge kids at our neighborhood school, to maintain the current level of diversity and the sense of community. Keep Westridge together!
