Please sign and share this petition worldwide in an effort to get the Philippines to take all necessary steps in protecting and saving the rare Philippine Eagle. If they do not safeguard its existence, the Philippine Eagle can and will become extinct!

The Philippine Eagle is a highly endangered species, with numbers dwindling drastically. Environmentalists fear the Eagle will soon become extinct if the Philippines does not do more to protect its existence and habitat. Not only is this the rarest but largest of species of Eagles worldwide, needing trees and rainforest to reside in. Problem is that 90 percent of the country’s trees and forests are disappearing, displacing Eagle habitats.

Poaching and eating Eagles as a rood resource in southern Philippines is also causing a loss of the Eagle population. Many of these people believe eating Eagle provides for them a longer, healthier life but is also creating diminishing numbers of the birds. Only about 400 pairs of Philippine Eagles are left in the wild. They are critically endangered.

The Philippine Eagle is a very large bird with a deep bill, dark face, nape with black shaft streaks and elongated feathers that forms a shaggy creamy-buff crest on its head. Other color variations under the body and wings may include some dark brown and white markings. They have a pale grey iris, dark grey bill, yellow legs and large claws to hold onto the trees it resides in, along with capturing its prey. This Eagle is also known for its loud, high-pitched whistles along with notable cries from the young.

Without escalated efforts in preserving the existence of this large and beautiful Philippine Eagle, declines in their numbers will continue into the future. We need to lend our support in order to save and protect the future of the Philippine Eagle.

Philippine Wildlife Environmentalists and Conservationists – Your help is needed in protecting and conserving the life and existence of the Philippine Eagle. As their habitat continues to dwindle with the loss of trees and forestry, the Eagle is quickly becoming displaced and in danger. There also needs to be stricter laws regulating poaching and eating these birds as a food source. Without your help in stronger regulations and enforcement of these laws, the Philippine Eagle will become critically extinct. They need your assistance in protecting them.
