We Support ChesCo DHS Employees

We stand with the employees of the Chester County Department of Human Services.  Chester County is underpaying and underappreciating these hard working men and women, and now they are trying to intimidate them into voting "NO" to joining Teamsters Local 384.  We are telling the County Commsioners loudly and clearly that their behavior is unacceptable and we won't stand for it.

By signing this petition we demand that the Chester County Commisioners:

-treat the employees at DHS equally and fairly, including compensating them appropriately for the hard work they do for the taxpayers of Chester County every day

-support the elderly, intellectually and developmentally disabled, children and families who benefit from the services of DHS by using out tax money to adequately fund DHS and pay its employees fairly.

-STOP lying to and intimidating the employees into voting against the best interests of themselves, their families and the taxpayers of Chester County.

-recognize the right of the employees to have a fair yes or no vote on union representation, without threats, lies, intimdation and scare tactics.

-STOP wasting taxpayer money on shady consultants and fancy lawfirms that specialize in lying to and intimidating employees who simply want to be treated fairly.

-FIRE Peter List, the union-busting, sweatshop-supporting thug from Kulture LLC

-DEMAND that the Commisioners be fully accountable to the taxpayers of Chester County.

We recognize the hard work of the people at DHS and we stand with them and support their right to stand-up for themselves and seek fair treatment by voting "YES" to joining Teamsters Local 384.

Chester County Taxpayers:

Please sign our petition urging the Chester County Commssioners to stop harrassing and discriminating against the hard working men and women at the Chester County Department of Human Services.

DHS includes many vital agencies that Chester County Taxpayers depend upon every day, usually when they find themselves most in need.  The offices that make up DHS include:

The Department of Aging
Children Youth and Families
Mental Health and Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
Drug and Alcohol Services

The employees at DHS have not received a pay raise since 2009, the same year they voluntarily de-certified from their union, acting on the good faith of the County Commissioners.  Shortly after lkeaving the union, the Commssioners went behind their backs to have their Civil Service status removed.

After two years of receiving no pay raise, while their union colleagues throughout the County received 3%-4% annual increases, the employees had a vote on joining Teamsters Local 384 because many of them thought this was necessary to look out for themselves and their families.  At that time, the Commsssioners offered all non-union employees a one-time 1%-2% bonus, causing the union vote to fail.

Since that time, the County has failed to increase compensation for the DHS employees.  Chester County DHS employees are the lowest paid in the 5-county Philadelphia region.  A typical Chester County DHS worker makes $32,000 per year compared to $38,000 in Montgomery County and $41,700 in Bucks County.  This is a disgrace.

The workers of Chester County deserve better.  The Taxpayers deserve better.  Together we can do better

With another unionization vote scheduled for April 11th, the County is once again up to its old tricks.  This time they have engaged high-priced law firms and shady consultant to lie to and intimidate the DHS employees into voting "no" on joining Teamster Local 384

These are the offices and agencies that look out for the most vulnerable among us.  Often, they are there for us, our families, our friends and our neighbors when we have nowhere else to turn.  These services are vital to our community.  By failing to take care of the workers at these offices, the County is also taking aim at our senior citizens, families, children and the disabled.  This is unacceptable.

By signing this petition you are joining with residents from across the County in standing up for the employees at DHS, standing up for senior citizens, children and the disabled, and standing up for your fellow taxpayers.

You are telling the Chester County Commisioners that we have had enough of their games.  It's time to treat the employees at DHS fairly, allow them to have a fair and independent vote on union representation, and it's time to stop wasting taxpayer money on expensive lawyers and consultants who do not have the taxpayers best interests in mind.
