Step up feral animal and noxious weed control programs!

  • by: Dick Clarke
  • recipient: Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, and Environment Minister Greg Hunt

Australia's unique ecology is in grave danger from predation and competition by feral animals, and the spread of noxious weeds displacing native vegetation. Successive governments have failed to take effective action. Meanwhile millions of small marsupials and birds are killed every week, extinctions continue, and virgin bushland is turning to weeds. The situation is more urgent than ever! But we know that Environment Minister Greg Hunt is concerned about protecting this unique biodiversity - please sign so he knows he has public support in taking strong action.

Dear Minister Hunt,

Australia's unique ecology is in grave danger from predation and competition by feral animals, and the spread of noxious weeds displacing native vegetation. Successive governments have failed to take effective action. Meanwhile millions of small marsupials and birds are killed every week, extinctions continue, and virgin bushland is turning to weeds. The situation is more urgent than ever! But we know that you as Environment Minister are concerned about protecting this unique biodiversity - please  know that you have public support in taking strong action.
