Ban Bullfighting activities in Spain!

Barbaric Bullfighting activities conducted in Spain should be left in the past. The distress to the Bulls involved, beginning with days of torture before being released into an arena, culminating in an agonising, undignified death is an unacceptable activity in the 21st century, for the sole purpose of spectator entertainment. These Bulls are kept in darkness, in small cages, elastic bands wrapped around genatalia, barbs pierced into shoulder blades to cause pain and distress to make them volatile. Upon seeing the light of the arena, these Bulls believe they are being set free, only to find themselves face to face with a Matador and surrounded by a jeering bloodthirsty crowd. These activities also incorporate horses used by picadors, that are at an age where they should be put out to pasture, but instead kept in disgraceful conditions, with voice strings removed so not to distress spectators when gored by a distraught and frustrated Bull. We the people of the UK use Spain as a major tourist destination. We import a wide variety of Spanish goods including vegetables, wine, cars and other manufactured items. For this reason we have a responsibility to ensure that the Spanish government take notice of our concerns and desires for such barbaric acts to cease and to be left with the Romans. We can be told that it is not any of our business, but it is, and we can demonstrate this fact by campaigning to boycott Spanish imports and goods and choosing other holiday destinations. The reasoning that it is Spanish culture, is not justification that Bullfighting activities are acceptable. Female circumcision common in some African countries, child brides in the Middle East or Honour killings in India among various other activities defined as "culture" does not make these things right or acceptable! It is time for Spain to move forward with the world and consign Bullfighting to the history books! The Bull should instead be celebrated and used as a symbol of power, strength, bravery and compassion by a country that is supposed to know more about the Bull than anywhere else. These are naturally gentle creatures that should be respected and treated properly. So please sign this petition and bring an end to such cruelty, and encourage Spain and it's people to appreciate and celebrate this animal instead! We the citizens of the UK petition the Spanish Ambassador to the UK, Federico Trillo-Figueroa Martínez-Conde, to accept our petition and present it to the government of Spain, and make the changes necessary to bring a cessation to the barbaric acts of Bullfighting.
