GRANDPARENTS DEMAND THAT OUR GRANDCHILDREN LIVE IN A SAFE STABLE ENVIRONMENT

President Clinton once said that it was time to demand that responsibility be a way of life and I say this demand is especially for those expected to care for the most vulnerable among us – our children. Parents should be made responsible for the children they bring into this world. Social agencies that have the responsibility of protecting our children must not let parents off the hook and expect taxpayers to pay for their neglect. Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) have made it easy for predators to take advantage of our children.

I know of a situation where two young children have been in the hands of someone who renders himself homeless, actively uses drugs and continues to collect state benefits under the guise of taking care of the children. He became custodian of the children when they were babies because his girlfriend (who he used drugs with) left them with him so that he could get welfare shelter and other benefits. This man, who is only the father of the youngest child, has always had them living in unstable environments since getting custody of them. Their only home has been in various shelters which he has been kicked out of for non-compliance and criminal activity. He actively used drugs recently with the children present, never holds down a job, has been arrested multiple times for warrants. Yet DCF said they have no concerns with him keeping custody of these children.

What else is needed to remove these children from this man's care? This is a tragedy getting ready to happen. DCF seems to turn a blinded eye when scumbags use children for their own selfish purposes. It's time to stop the madness.
