Tell Congress to Ban Sale of Fracking Chemicals Without a Permit!

A new report shows that U.S. fossil fuel companies have used over 30,000 gallons of diesel fuel, including kerosene, since 2014 in fracking operations without securing the required permits first. The report covers 33 companies, representing 351 wells across 12 states.

A loophole in Congress' 2005 Energy Policy Act removes the EPA's authority to regulate fracking chemicals, but diesel fuels may still be regulated as part of the Safe Water Drinking Act. However, the fracking industry has been denying their use of diesel fuel, even in the wake of the new report. There is also confusion regarding the labeling of kerosene as a diesel fuel, because it wasn't considered a diesel fuel until February.

Researchers have also discovered diesel fracking fuels available for sale online without a permit.

Pure drinking water and the health of our nation should take precedence over fracking interests. Please sign the petition to urge Congress to take action to stop the sale and use of diesel fracking fuels without a permit!
