Criminalizing the giving of food to homeless people on the street

In some towns and counties, there is a movement to stop persons from giving food to a homeless person on the street.  The arguement is that by doing so the person will not go into a 'holistic shelter environment'.  There are not enough shelters, much less 'holistic shelters', for the homeless people on our streets right now.  In addition, many homeless people suffering from mental illness will not go to shelters. 

The criminalization of giving food to those in need is unbelievable.

Please support this petition to ask President Obama and Congress to require the local municipalities banning giving food to the homeless person on the street, to provide adequate 'holistic shelters' to totally meet the needs of their areas homeless persons.
