Urge the University of Oregon to Fight Climate Change

In the University of Oregon's Climate Action Plan (CAP) 2.0, the university will commit to improving the sustainability of buildings and construction on campus. However, CAP 2.0 removes any major steps towards addressing our contributions to global climate change, including a commitment to carbon neutrality by 2050. In light of that, a group of students, faculty and staff are proposing an addendum that will be delivered to President Schill along with CAP 2.0.

We seek to add several key commitments to CAP 2.0, including reducing emissions by 45% by 2030 and total  carbon neutrality in line with the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)'s recommendations, exploring carbon offsets, incorporating climate change into academics and codifying the relationship between student, faculty and staff input and future CAP development.
