Ban elephants from Nepal zoo

As one of the most intelligent creatures on Earth, elephants have immensely complex needs that no captive facility can fully provide. Zoos are no place for jumbos. The Nepal government is ready to retire 65 year old zoo elephant Pawankali but wants to replace her with a younger elephant. The elephant will be chained under a tin roof and used for daily safaris inside the zoo.

We, the undersigned, urge the Nepal government not to keep working elephants in the Central Zoo. After retiring the present working elephant, Pawankali, please do not replace her. We also urge you to follow the example of India and various other countries, and end the presence of elephants in zoos.
