Please sign and share this petition nationwide on all media sites in an effort to investigate why an elephant was found by itself on a Florida beach and press charges against the person responsible for leaving it there! Speculation is that the elephant was part of child's birthday party but was deserted on the beach by itself as it looked for comfort from the heat by wading in the water.

Judy is a 58-year old 6,200 pound elephant that appeared to be left on its own on a Pinellas County beach in Redington Beach, Florida recently. These animals are not common in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and did not get there on its own. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has concerns as to how the elephant got there and if any federal laws have been broken by Judy's handler known as Bones Craig. A spokesperson for PETA states that there should be "sufficient distance and/or barriers between the animal and the general viewing public so as to assure the safety of animals and the public" which clearly did not occur here.

Mr. Todd Unbehagen was at the beach and filmed the animal wading in the water, saying it was apparently part of a birthday party.“We were walking down the beach, and someone had a private party at their beach house with an elephant...So, we stopped for a while to take pictures. You don’t see this every day!!!”

However, no party was evident when Judy was left unattended wading in the water. This incident could have gone horribly wrong as PETA states. "Many captive elephants are accidents waiting to happen, and you never know which ones will attack, even if they've exhibited a docile personality for years. Allowing a 6,200-pound, fiercely strong animal to roam the beach unsupervised could easily have ended in tragedy."

Even if these animals exhibit docile personalities, one never knows their reactions when they fear danger and unfamiliarity.
