There is no reason why anyone should use a taser on a child and subject it to brain damage and mental health!
In some states like Texas and North Carolina, police officers are known to use tasers on children, often times causing them brain damage. Just recently, a young high school student in Bastrop County, Texas, who was tasered suffered severe brain damage and nearly died as a result. A taser is a high-voltage electronic weapon. Another case involves a 15-year old who was shocked with a taser three times and resulted in punctured lungs on the child. Other cases involves a student that was shocked three times, not for threatening behavior but for lying on the floor and crying, and another was shocked while trying to break up a fight.
Why are police using such force on children with such an invasive, dangerous weapon? The problem has its roots in the 1990s, when school districts began ceding even routine disciplinary duties to police and security officers, who were utterly unprepared to deal with children. Such a weapon is much too dangerous to use on children and there is nothing so violent that they could be doing to deserve such treatment. In fact, some adults that have been tasered have died. This is a lethal weapon.
School administrators need to reclaim responsibility for disciplinary matters from security or police officers, who too often treat students like criminals. Stop using tasers on children. Government Legislators and Board of Education – To begin with, the school system should deal with the affairs involving children. Police do not know how to handle children and it sure isn’t by using a taser to cripple and permanently damage them just because they erred in some way. If officers are required to care for students on the wrong path, there are surely other methods, community service or something similar as a method of teaching right from wrong; not causing harm or mental damage. That is so wrong! Stop using these lethal weapons on children!
