Dr. Sylvia Earle said understanding the ocean's mysteries is critical to protecting it. A globally-renowned oceanographer, she is on a mission to tell the world:
"We know more about space than we do our oceans, even though the oceans sustain all life on our planet. By making undersea exploration and research a priority can we learn what we need to know to protect the oceans
To raise awareness, Earle is leading an expedition to the world's only undersea research lab -- Aquarius Reef Base, 60 ft. underwater in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary -- to celebrate 50 years of scientists living underwater. One World One Ocean will provide live coverage.
Aquarius is a national brain trust, and this may be its last mission -- its budget has been cut.
