After reading about another child that has died from being forgotten and left in a hot car, we the undersigned are asking all auto and child carseat or booster seats to be equipped with a voice alarm that will sound off when there is a child in the car seat. An alarm that will clearly say WARNING-BACK SEAT IS OCCUPIED-PLEASE CHECK- repeatedly until the child is removed. It should also have a fail safe feature that will allow the warning to sound as soon as the drivers and front seat passenger doors are opened. Also it would help if there were a solar powered cell that will allow the alarm to activate even if there should be a mechanical or electronic malfunction. The solar backup battery can be as small as the device used in pathway lights that you place in your yard. Yes, the responsibility for the child is placed on the adult...but as we've seen, sometimes the driver is distracted, and even the fact that they may have been the one to place the child in the car in the first place, still we read these stories of a senseless death. It only takes a second to rush out of your vehicle, and carry on with your movements..but still children perish..in a hot car..all alone either because they may have fallen asleep, or just stopped talking or making any noise at all. If the auto manufacturers would take the present designs for such a device, a step further and add the voice to the alarm, perhaps the life of a child will be able to be saved. This device should and could be as standard as having the motor, wheels, etc in the car as soon as it rolls off the assembly line. There should also be a device that can be retrofitted for older model cars, hence the auto AND car seat companies and powers that be should be able to work this out. Also while many of us swear that we would never allow a child to remain in a hot car, we still keep reading these horrifying as well as very sad circumstances in the loss of babies, toddlers and even bigger children. There is no need in saying that the person was dumb, stupid, or such..because while we sit and point fingers, another baby is in a hot car, waiting for someone to save them. And if a child falls asleep, the alarm will still sound because a weight is in the carseat. We all must take a stand and act on preventing one more child from perishing as well as thinking about the gut wrenching agony a person goes thru when they have lost a child. So we ask that all vehicle and carseat / Booster seat makers sit down and really put forth the effort to help to stop your son, daughter, neice, nephew, grands, greatgrands and every child from losing their precious life.
