Access For All

Lackland family homes has playgrounds for their residents to use, all though not one of them has access for our disabled community. Just because a child with a disability can get to the playground does not mean that they can play on it. Children that have limited mobility may not be able to walk up the stairs of the jungle gym and children in wheelchair's are comply unable to access it. Now I would like you to take a second to put your self in these children's shoes. Imagine how you feel not being able to play with your friend at the park. The only thing that you can do is sit on the side line, and just watch. There is an easy soliton to this issue and that is providing access to all. To do this you can add an adaptive swing. This can support children that have limited sitting ability and can not use a regular swing. Adding a wheelchair accessible table, will offer a place for everyone to sit at and have a snack or just interact with each other. A interactive free standing playground wall can provide a place for children to play, when they can not gain access to the jungle gym . These are only few ideas that can help turn a playground with limited access into a playground that has access for all.
