Keady Livestock Market is a large Farmer's Market located just outside Owen Sound, ON. You can find an abundance of fresh local organic produce, canned goods, homemade baking, hand crafts and wood working. But the real reason thousands visit Keady each year is for the animals. You can find a variety of terrified, abused animals being sold off like slaves for next to nothing. Keady is a produce heaven and an animal's hell. Breeder's sell puppies for around $200 each, claiming they have all their vaccinations and are old enough to leave their Mothers, when in reality many are diseased and inbred. In the small animal barn you'll find hundreds of animals packed into tiny crates so small they can't even spread their wings or turn around. Many end up taking out their frustration on each other (ie. Rabbits chewing each other's ears off) and nobody bats an eye. Guinea Pigs, Pheasants, Chickens, Pot Belly Pigs, Geese, Ducklings, Ferrets, Pigeons, etc. - all found in the Small Auction Barn. In the larger "Livestock" Barn, you can feel the tension right when you walk in. Cows, crying out for one another, men yelling at them to cooperate, the Auctioneer selling them off by the pound, and the crowd mocking them and laughing. Also sold at this barn are Horses, Goats, Sheep, Pigs, Llama's and Veal Calves - all in deplorable conditions. This Market has been making money off animals for too long (over 25 years), it's time to take a stand. Please show you're against this cruelty by signing and sharing.
