Did you know the Phelps Community Center offers free services to the community?
Currently the Town of Phelps has a contract for services with the Village of Phelps to allow Town residents to use the Village of Phelps Youth Parks and Recreation Department programs.
The Town of Phelps also has a contract for services for Town residents to use the library.
This means the Town of Phelps gives funding to both of these programs.
In the ten years the Phelps Community Center has been open, the Town of Phelps has not provided any funding for it's residents to use the facility. Please read the request below that has been sent to the Town of Phelps year after year and consider signing this petition.
The Phelps Community Center has been an instrumental part of this community for some time now. We operate on donations from community members, program participation, private grants, and the Village of Phelps. We are writing this request because we believe the Town of Phelps should be supporting the community center and their residents who use it. We hope as you read below, the Town Board will see how valuable the Phelps Community Center is.
Organization Details
The mission of Phelps Community Center is to create and develop a self-supporting center for family-oriented and multi-generational programs and activities to improve the quality of life in the local Community. In addition, blend municipal and income-producing tenants into the location in order to enhance the community center in ways that support our local community. We offer the 25 programs, 8 free services, and 8 tenants directly related to making this community a better place to live.
We have so many valuable programs and free services. We try to offer as low cost as possible so more community members can take part in our programs. Some are still in their building phase while others are established.
The free services we offer to this community including your tax payers are:
Free printing and Computer Lab
Free Game Room
Free Open Gym Use
Free Family Events
Free Meeting space for non-profits & public meetings
Information Center to the Community
At this time, we are requesting the Town Of Phelps enter into a contract with the Phelps Community Center to help with the cost of providing the above free services to its taxpayers and to help reduce the cost of some of our programming fees. It’s important to note, we are not asking for a donation. We are no different than the Library or the Village of Phelps asking for funding for your taxpayers.
