Demand sick Hoosiers get their Hemp/Medicine!

Everyone knows we are experiencing the greatest debt crisis in American history. Everyone knows we need more jobs and need to bring industry back to America. We all know the cost of health care is incredible. Yet, because we are afraid of a plant, we suffer in so many ways.

Most people are unaware that hemp was the cash crop in this country before cotton became king (http://hashmuseum.com/). One could pay his taxes in hemp (http://www.kentuckyhempgca.org/about/kentucky-hemp-growers-cooperative-museum-and-library/). It was unlawful in America, not to grow it. (Yes, not to grow it.) Every pharmacy carried it. The reason we demonized it and called it marijuana was for racist and political bias. The war on drugs is much like McCarthyism, and the fact that we still have this unbeatable war going on, only serves to harm the American people and make drug cartels rich.

It's the ignorance of our own heritage and past that keeps us enslaved to our consumerism culture. We don't need to buy more; we need to produce. We need to grow. We need to grow our own food, fiber, fuel and pharmaceuticals. Americans used to do all of these things, and hemp was the backbone of this production. Talk to your grandparents who lived through World War 2, or simply watch the film Hemp For Victory on Youtube. Hemp and victory gardens saved America during the 1940s.

If you're not living under a Midwestern rock, you probably already know that hemp is sweeping the nation right now. You may have seen both of Sanja Gupta's specials on CNN (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=sanjay+gupta+weed&sm=1). You're probably aware that hemp is being used to fight cancer, Crohn's, seizures, appetite disorders, MS, depression, diabetes and a myriad of other illnesses. You probably know that 32 states have approved hemp for medicinal use, several states are pending legislation and two states have approved for recreational use.

But did you know that hemp can be used to make the most durable paper and fiber (http://www.reuseit.com/product-materials/hemp-natures-super-fiber.htm), the best geo-thermal building material (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/10/hempcrete-hemp-house_n_1506662.html), the cleanest burning fuel for automobiles (http://www.hemp.com/hemp-education/uses-of-hemp/hemp-fuel/), biodegradable plastics (http://www.hemp.com/hemp-education/uses-of-hemp/hemp-plastics/) and is one of the most complex proteins (http://healthyeating.sfgate.com/benefits-hemp-protein-6674.html), containing all the essential amino acids for our diet?

The question shouldn't be "is hemp dangerous." The question should be, "Why were we told hemp was dangerous?" and "What the hell are we going to do about it?"
