Brazil - Stop illegal burning of your precious rainforest

In the 60's and 70s the brazilian government encouraged people to cultivate the amazon rainforest to increase crop production. Many people moved into the rainforest and burned the forest to make money from the land. Although this is not encouraged any more burning and illegal fire setting to clear land is still occurring and the government does very little to stop it. This burning destroys vast areas of land, ruinning supposedly protected indigenous areas, destroying wildlife and reducing humidity increasing the chances of further fires and turning what was once rainforest into savannah with acidic soil. Teams of dedicated local firefighters work tirelessly to prevent this as they understand the true value of the rainforest. It's time for the government to counteract they're encouragement of people to destroy the rainforest. They must look at sustainable farming, punish those who deliberately set fires and provide the proper resources and equipment to those dedicated to fighting the fires and saving the rainforest. The amazon is the lungs of the earth, it is vital for the survival of humanity and must be protected!
