Fight YellowFace and Racism in The Mikado!

Ferocious Lotus Theatre Company is leading a protest against an upcoming Bay Area production of THE MIKADO at Lamplighters Music Theatre. We are concerned about the casting of the show, as well as the the inherently racist elements of THE MIKADO and how the show will be presented on stage. In our open letter below, we strongly urge Lamplighters to rethink their production and approach the opera’s problematic aspects with social-political awareness.
