We demand exoneration for Pete O'Neill a Black Panther in exile.

The following information is taken in part from Steve Penn's book, Case for a pardon, the Pete O'Neil story: Who is Pete O'Neil and what did he do? What did he really do to anger the federal government so much that he can never come back to the United States of America? NEVER! There is no short answer to that question. Pete O'Neil did a lot of things. Some right and some wrong. But he never killed anyone and he never threatened anyone. Pete O'Neil was the chairman of the Kansas City chapter of the Black Panther Party. He served from 1968 until he was accused of taking a shot gun accross state lines, a federal offense sinse he had been convicted of a felony years earlier. He was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to 4 years in a federal penitentiary. While out on bond Pete fled the country, because he had good reasons to believe if he went to jail he would be killed. Pete was convicted on the testimony of a paid government snitch and illegally obtained wire taps. The year 2015 marks his 45th year in exile. He lives in Arusha , Tanzania. His son, and his daughter grew up in Arusha but now live state side. O'Neil has long served out his punishment. Isolated from his homelad, his mother and unable to attend his fathers funeral. O'Neils life is not a straight line. His life has gone full circle. He may have started out a militant, but he has gone on to build, with his wife Charlotte, the United African Alliance Community Center (UAACC), a successful community center in Africa, and he and his wilfe also have a thriving children's home for orphans and disadvantaged children. He has brought running water and electricity to the village of Imbaseni about 50 minutes outside of of Arusha, Tanzania. Pete O'Neil is a modern day Don Quixote, and Robin Hood put together. He used his resources to give to the poor. Only his life's journey is real. It is not a myth, or a tall tale left to hyperbole. O'Neils journey is an epic journey that is all true. He realizes he is a blessed man. There were many times in his life when he could have been killed. Yet he was saved. O'Neils lawyers have armed the power brokers in Washington with a persuasive legal argument. THe information has been passed by Congressman Emanual Cleaver. The hope is that the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama and the U.S. Attorney's General, individuals who believe in the rule of law and justice and know injustice when they see it will hear our plea for justice and set Pete O'Neil free. The only thing Pete O'Neil is guilty of is having a paid informant accuse him, aggressive prosecution and high drama. When the truth is made known the world will finally see who this man, Pete O'Neil really is and the good he has done. Please support this petition.
