Garbage Responsibility in Woolwich; Article for Town Meeting

You must live in Woolwich Maine in order to sign this petition.  Thank you for your support

Woolwich has done a remarkable job with increasing the amount we recycle and we also can do more to protect the enviroment for our children.  As a father I believe in leaving this planet a little cleaner for my own kids and I hope that you will support this campaign.  Bath and Brunswick were able to significantly increase the lifespan of their garbage dumps when then went to a PAYT system.  This is about fairness, lowering taxes and cleaning up our enviroment.

Article for Town Meeting 2014

Direct the Selectboard of Woolwich Maine to create a pay-as-you-throw program for non-recyclable garbage.  This would allow taxes to be lowered, protect the environment and promote personal responsibility for waste disposal.

Reason for this petition

The current system of paying for garbage is unfair.  Households that are conservative in the amount of trash they create are subsidizing those that put out more garbage.   No other utility (electric, heating oil,  phone, cable),  are those that use less asked to pay for those that use more.  Personally my taxes would be lower with this in place.
