Stop Pitbull Muzzle Law in Malden, MA

On March 27,th 2012 the Malden City Councel met and tabled the passing on a BSL to have all Pitbull owners use muzzles on there dogs outside of there own property.
On Tuesday, April 3rd, this issue will go back to councel, and a desicion will be made. It was unanimously passed to go in front of the councel in the first place, and without Malden residents speaking out, will surley be passed.
I am starting this petition to urge Malden residents, and residents local to Malden that will be effected by this law, sign this potition and speak out on why it is unacceptable to pass this bill. These bills have been fought before. We can do this! Please sign the petition and let them know where in Malden your from, like what Ward and express your concerns.

We the Undersigned:

Residents of Malden, Ma and other concerned communties urge our elected representatives on the Malden City Councel to REJECT restrictions the City Ordinance proposes to enforce breed specific muzzle law.

We BELIEVE the proposed restrictions:

1. Will not eliminate dog incidents, not create measurable reduction.
2. Would mis use City resources for a virtually unenforsable ban and deter resources and councel time from REAL issues, like bank robberies, stabbing, domestic violence incidents, all which have occured in the first half of March.
3. Are unenforceable with any measure of consistency and fairness. Who says its a Pitbull? What proves it? Who will enforce after 4pm and on weekends when Animal Control is of duty?
4. Embarrass out City as one whose elected officals allow emotions such as fear, anger and prejudice to write the law.
5.Create inconvience for many pet owners, the vast majority of whom act responsibly by training, loving, leash walking, licensing, spay/ nuetering there dogs.

WE DOT SUPPORT measures to increase dog owner responsibilites, including increased enforcment of existing leash and licensing laws.

WE ENCOURAGE the Ordinance Commitee to go back to the drawing board for enforceable non- breed specific measures such as those that have reduced animal control problems in other communties.
