We want a change!! #BikersLivesMatter

When an accident involving a car, and a motorcycle happens in the state of South Carolina, the driver of the car is charged with failure to yield. That charge carries a fine up to one hundred and fifty dollars. Is that what our lives are worth?? Please sign this petition in hopes of getting stiffer penalties for drivers at fault of a wreck causing death or great bodily injury. Thank you for your time.

We the people of South Carolina want stiffer penalties in accidents causing serious bodily injury, or resulting in death, involving a motorcycle. No matter how the scenario is drawn, most violations of the law, as it pertains to yielding the right of way, occur because anxious drivers take unnecessary chances, and are not paying attention.

The Law: S.C. Code of Laws  Section 56-5-2320 indicates the following: The driver of a vehicle intending to turn left within an intersection or into an alley, private road or driveway shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is so close as to constitute an immediate hazard.
