Every day in America is a campaign day for numerous politicians. Many countries have limits as tight as a few weeks. Yet we, the complacent populous of "the greatest nation on earth", sit by and allow congress to play politics all year round. The practice has spilled over into the states. Politicians have left politics because of the craziness that it has morphed into. Popularity contests, massive amounts of money spread every which way, and four year election campaigns for President. Day in, day out.
I feel this practice takes news time away from the real reporting, a thing we used to have, called journalism, where actual facts of what is happening around the world and around the country were actually reported without commentary. The generation of my 29 year old daughter, truly have no idea what that was like. There is no such thing as a slow news day, any more. There are always stories that get pushed back, especially those about science and the planet. You have to be able to afford the higher cable bill, if you expect to get that on NGO and The Science Channel. The poor get a poor excuse for those: The Discovery Channel. There is plenty of news out there.
I feel we should limit the spending and the time frame of all elections. Please sign my petition, if you agree.
