Pass the FRAC Act!

A new study confirms what anti-fracking activists have suspected all along: fracking can lead to contamination of drinking water.

In 2004, Louis Meeks, a resident of Pavillon, Wisconsin reported that his water changed after the company Encana drilled for natural gas near his home. He and his wife were forced to sell their farm animals after some died from drinking the contaminated water. Thought the Environmental Protection Agency and the State of Wyoming discounted fracking's effects on the water supply, a new study sheds new light on the case.

A 2016 review published in Environmental Science and Technology found that fracking had a "clear impact" on drinking water. To make things worse, much fracking occurs at shallow levels, near drinking water sources.

We cannot afford to let fracking ruin the fresh water that humans and animals depend on for drinking and bathing. Please sign the petition to urge U.S. Legislators to pass the FRAC act to regulate fracking and disclose chemicals used in fracking to better protect and inform citizens.

Dear Decision Maker,

As someone concerned about America's drinking water, I strongly urge you to do everything that you can to pass the FRAC Act (S. 785).
