Implement & Enforce Animal Cruelty Registry & Database in Maryland

Unless steps are taken to help defenseless animals from the cruelty of humans, the abuse and neglect will never stop.  Such is the case in Maryland where animal abuse and cruelty can be a grave concern.  Maryland statues state that animal is any living creature that is not human and cruelty is the unnecessary or unjustifiable physical pain or suffering inflicted on that poor animal. Read https://www.animallaw.info/statute/md-cruelty-consolidated-cruelty-statutes, http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/tag/animal-abuse/  In my ongoing journey, I am working to encourage Maryland to implement and strictly enforce an animal cruelty registry database that is similar in stature to that of child abuse and sex offender registries.

A proposed animal cruelty registry would require anyone guilty of any type of animal abuse, cruelty and neglect to be placed on this database which needs to be updated on a regular basis.  Additionally, these abusers need to be banned from future pet ownership or ever working with or caring for them for a lifetime.  The database should then be shared with all breeders, shelters, pet shops and others in the pet industry as a mandatory resource.

My effort in this petition is to urge the Maryland State Legislators to implement and strictly enforce such an animal cruelty registry database as a crucial step in protecting poor defenseless animals.  You can help me with this endeavor by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts and comments.  The goal is to get such a database implemented state-by-state until it goes into law on a national level.

Maryland State Legislators - Animal abuse, cruelty and neglect is continually on the rise and steps need to be taken to safeguard these defenseless creatures.  Please ensure that you implement and strictly enforce an animal cruelty registry database that is similar in stature to that of a child abuser or sex offender.  Anyone who has been convicted of any type of abuse would be required to register on this database with all pertinent personal information, needing to be updated on a regular basis.  Anyone registered would be banned from every again owning a pet, caring for or working with animals for a lifetime.  The database would be a mandatory resource at all shelters, breeders, pet shops and any other pet-related industry.
