Rachel Stevens was a bright normal 12 year old girl from Scotland, who after being systematically bullied by her peers at school out of desperation took her own life to escape her bullies.
Her mother had brought it to the schools attention several times but no positiveor affirmative action was ever taken to protect her daughter from tormentors.
We want the law to change the way that bullies are held accountable for their actions we want there to be a law that gives the police and the court the power to bring charges not only against the bullies but their parents where the bullying leads to the taken of a bully victims life. The bully's should also be place on a nationwide register that schools can have access to, We want the schools to have a proper plan of action to deal with bullying and the bullies within the school this would include immediate expulsion from school for a set period of time and would mean that the student would then have to wait to leave the school system as they would have to serve the term of absence imposed on them for bullying so thier graduation would be delayed. The parents should also face prosecution as the responsible adult in respect of the child doing the bullying and a fitting sentence imposed. It is time that both children and the parents face the consequences of their unacceptable actions.
