To many Aboriginal Australians there is little to celebrate and it is a commemoration of a deep loss. Loss of their sovereign rights to their land, loss of family, loss of the right to practice their culture. The 26th of january is a day of mourning.
Lets cellebrate Australia Day on a date that brought us together like the 1967 referendom on the 10th of August or the 1st of September the first day of Spring, marking a time of birth, fresh beginnings, and the start of barbecue weather. It would provide us with a day to celebrate what we really love about our beautiful country including the beaches, rivers, native flora and fauna.
