Urge Confining Your Dogs Without Tethering Option

Please sign and share this petition on all your media sites as we speak out to the Guilford County law enforcement at N. C. regarding their new law and ordinance regarding tethering their dogs. It is good that the state and county have concerns regarding the confinement of people's pets, however, keeping a dog tied up as a means of confining it to its property can lead to many other abusive issues.

In Greensboro, N.C., in the county of Guilford, the animal control authorities and their law enforcement have been working through an ordinance that requires dog owners to keep their dogs confined on their properties by tethering and chaining them up. The concern is that people will chain up their pets for hours on end, putting the pet in danger.

It is an awesome and productive idea to ensure dogs stay on their own property, which can help to lower animal abuse and cruelty cases. Tethering a dog for extended periods of time can cause an animal to get tangled, possibly choke or hang itself, be limited to its shelter, food and water. Some chains left on a dog for long periods of time can even grow within the animal's neck. As responsible pet owners, dogs must be confined to their own homes and properties, but not at the expense of their lives. Dogs are not just a pet in most homes; they are part of the family unit.

We are working to encourage N.C. and the Guilford County to demand that all residents with dogs keep them confined by other means other than tethering or face the consequences if the pets are loose or chained for long periods of time. Currently, the public is being educated on the perils of tethering a dog or not confining it properly, but we want to support the authorities in more severe punishment for owners who lack in the proper care of their pets. Support them through this petition so they can do away with tethering while also ensuring all dogs are safely confined to their homes and property.

Greensboro, N.C. & Guilford County Animal Control & Law Enforcement - We are signing this petition in an effort to support your efforts to stop tethering in your county and state while educating pet owners of the dangers involved. We encourage you to demand that all family dogs are more safely confined, through fencing and constant owner monitoring. Anyone who chains up their dogs for any length of time, without proper care needs to face the consequences because, anyway you look at it, it presents dangers to the animal! If people have a dog, they need to take the responsibility seriously or else face the consequences with fines and jail time!
