The other day my older sister found a five year old dog names Kain who was a shelter in Philadelphia and next in line to be killed. She emailed the shelter twice and called several times but got no response. Before she even made it out of work that day, still not having been answered, Kain was killed.
After emailing ACCT several more times and calling to tell them how upset she was that they put no effort into finding him a home they responeded that there "wasn't enough room but he was killed humanely!".
We are disgusted by this behavior and want to draw as much awarness not only to Kain, but to all animals who don't have a voice of their own and don't stand a chance. Anywhere from 50-60 percent of all dogs that enter a shelter never make it out and that percentage is even higher for cats. No animal should be killed because there simply "was no room" without all efforts being made to find them a home.
