Stop Animal Cruelty in San Mateo County!

In the most severe case of animal cruelty a San Mateo SPCA has ever seen, two dogs were abandoned in San Bruno with their fur matted with feces and urine.

The dogs were unable to move when animal services arrived at the San Bruno apartment complex where the dogs were left.

One terrier had an exposed bone from a compound fracture that went untreated by previous owners and was missing part of its front paw.

After removing seven pounds of matted hair, the dog weighed a dwindling 11 pounds.

The second dog showed signs of extreme malnourishment after veterinarians found that he weighed only eight after six pounds of matted hair was removed from its frail body.

The only humane treatment, the SPCA found, was to euthanize the dogs to end their pain.

The PHS/SPCA is offering a $5,000 reward for information that will lead to arrest of those responsible for this cruelty.

Tell the San Mateo District Attorney to give the maximum punishment to the person/persons responsible for such cruelty!

We the undersigned urge you to give the maximum punishment to the person or persons responsible for the illegal and immoral abandonment of two terriers at a San Bruno apartment complex.

This appalling treatment of animals should be taken very seriously and the person or persons responsible should be made an example as to prevent any further inhumane treatment of animals in San Mateo County.

The animals were treated as trash, thrown out, unkempt and certainly unloved.

This should never happen again.

We ask you to please give the perpetrators the maximum punishment.

Thank you for taking our comments and concerns into serious consideration.
