Reprieve of Surf City Signage Ordinance

As business owners in Surf City, we would like to ask the Town Council to place a reprieve on the enforcement of the signage ordinance now in effect. Due to Hurricane Florence, we have all been negatively affected and we believe that signage will be our best method for attracting customers to our locations during this upcoming season. We feel that enforcing the current ordinance for temporary signage, flag signage, and off-site signage, hurts every business and doesn't allow each business to properly show where we are located or what we offer.

We would like for this reprieve to be in effect through September 7, 2019, at which time we will offer amendments to the current ordinance for your review, and to change the ordinance moving forward.

We appreciate the council hearing us out and being thoughtful and considerate of this matter as it affects business in Surf City and the economy overall.
