Tell the UK to Increase Support for Rape Survivors

Women in the UK still hesitate to seek help after being sexually assaulted. But despite an alarming rate of violence against women -- men killed over 900 women in England and Wales between 2009 and 2015 -- the government still hasn't stepped up to increase prevention and support for victims.

The Istanbul Convention would ensure that female violence survivors would have access to services and support, including medical help, therapy and legal services. It would also increase efforts to penalize offenders, including those who committed violence acts outside the UK. British MPs overwhelmingly support the treaty, but there is no set timeline for ratification.

Meanwhile, women in the UK are afraid to report violence against them, and many -- especially minorities and undocumented women -- are unable to access the care they need.

Please sign the petition to urge the UK government to ratify the Istanbul Convention in the year 2017!

I am writing to urge you to make it a priority to increase protections for females who have survived rape and other violent crimes.
