Why does the threefold pattern allows police to kill family dogs?

THREEFOLD PATTERN #1
There is no legitimate reason for police to be on your property. Most dogs are killed when police enter into what the dog considers home territory.

THREEFOLD PATTERN #2
Claims which contradict witness testimony. How many times have you read of cases where police turn in an incident report after shooting a dog, and this report differs greatly from what the owner or witnesses report happened? This can be very disturbing to everyone involved.

THREEFOLD PATTERN #3
Departments claiming everything was done according to "protocol." This may include reasoning (true or untrue) that the officer felt threatened by the dog, therefore the shooting was justified. A department must stand behind the officer, or else the department is admitting the officer made a mistake.

The police officers seem to over-react to any dog protecting its family's and his own territory, and running usually is connected to play time in the dog's mind. It seem that the police force of USA need a lot of educating about dogs and their behaviour and protectiveness of their territories.

The protocol excuse is getting old with dog lovers who follow the cases of dogs shot by police. Protocol is being challenged with questions as to why non-lethal methods weren't used, as well as negligence and violation of Fourth Amendment rights. The city of LaGrange was recently listed in a lawsuit for failing to train their officers on how to safely secure a dog without the use of lethal force.

For those of you who want examples of the magic threefold pattern that allows police to murder family dogs, an excellent page can be found here, along with photos of family dogs who lost their lives at the hands of untrained police officers. Caution: this page will anger a dog owner to an all new level.

The governmental police management, state police departments and local police officers,

It was sad to learn that you kill dogs just because they protect their own family territory. The threefiold pattern shoiuld be carefullu thought and different strategies adopted, because most of the domestic dogs killed were not vicious or consdered dangerous. When dog starts to chase a running person, it thinks it is just play. CHildren run adn the dogs run with them, and that is the pattern you see as dangeroius.

It is time to look at these patterns to protect family pets, and also realize t hat you are, even on duty, on a private property, and that th dogs only protect their own. There has been enough of these sad killing, and you have all the tools to change the patterns and also your own asttitude towards domestic animals, whatever species they may be.

The threefold pattern is soon taking so many police officers to court, and many families will demand compensation for the loss of their pets. It seems ironic that police officers will be charged with an intentional ending of a life while performing their duties. The whole nation has more or less one opinion, and it is no more dog killings while on duty. Pet dogs are not as aggressive as police dogs. And if policemen do not have any other experience of dogs, they should be made to attend a course on dog behavior and all the posible consequences resulting from a police chase on foot.

Please, change the threefold parttern and teach all police men and women that not all dogs are aggressive and vicious.
