Stop Mandatory Meal Plans or Get Rid of Aramark at Laurentian University

Since Laurentian University has imposed mandatory meal plans on students living in residences, many of whom have kitchen facilities and thus do not need the meal plans, we believe that meal plans should not be mandatory. The food that is being served at the Fresh Food Company is very low quality (majority of food is frozen), and there are minimal options for vegans, or gluten free students, faculty, and visitors. Locally sourced, freshly made food that provides whole food nutrition to all people regardless of dietary needs would be a nice change to have.
Seeing how Aramark has to re-sign their contract soon, this petition has been created in an attempt to either A) get rid of mandatory meal plans, or B) Ask Laurentian to get a new Food Service Provider.

There have been slight improvements at the Great Hall since I started this petition, however, the food still lacks nutrition and the quality is poor. Without more signatures the necessary changes that we need at Laurentian will not happen.

Hello everyone,
The Board of Governors have their meeting sometime (exact date to come) very soon, which is why I am asking you to share this petition with your friends and family and to get the signatures in.
I would like to take a moment to thank you for your support. Within one day of this petition being created we have had over 200 people sign. Don't let the flame wear out, let's keep on gaining signatures.
