Protect LGBT Individuals From Discrimination in Ohio

The Ohio legislature has a new opportunity to stand up for the state's LGBT community members. A proposal for new state laws that would protect LGBT job and housing hunters from discrimination is currently before the state's leaders. The proposal was spearheaded by State Representative Nickie Antonio. Antonio has told the media that new federal laws granting gay people the right to marriage have ushered in a new era. It's time, in other words, to make sure that LGBT people also have the right to fair and equal treatment in the workforce and in housing applications. Please join with me in asking the Ohio State Legislature to pass this important legislation.

To the Ohio State Legislature:

We the undersigned wish to show our support for State Representative Nickie Antonio's proposed bill which would protect the LGBT community in Ohio from discrimiation. Specifically, this bill proposes to prohibit discrimination against LGBT individuals in the work place and in housing applications. It seems fairly obvious to us that the best person should get the job, regardless of sexual identity. And no one should be turned away for an apartment or a home loan because of sexual identity either. So we ask that you proceed immediately to move this bill into law.
